With the ubiquity of social media and the ever-present digital portals that allow us to access all forms of style around the clock: fashion, more than ever before, is fleeting.

One stylist has been able to harness the rapid pace of current day fashion and the break neck speed at which Millennials and Gen Z cycle through trends, all while somehow cementing a look that is timeless and all together stunning.

Christopher Horan, the 25-year-old stylist to fast emerging fashion stars like Rowan Blanchard, Zoe Levin and Dove Cameron, has become the go-to image-maker for ingénues who may be young in age but are wise beyond their years seen mainly in their work, activism and style choices.

Dressing his clients (Horan has also worked with Jeffrey Tambor, Chelsea Peretti and Sophie Nelisse), in a mix of established (think: Chanel and Miu Miu) and emerging brands and designers, the stylist manages to straddle the line between free-spirited and a “forever” aesthetic, proving that even in this digital day and age, young girls can (and should) appear polished, respectable and of course, draped in designer garb when possible.

Here, Horan talks about his long-standing love of jewelry and how he navigates the placement of opulent accessories on even his youngest of clients.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 12.18.44 PMHave you always loved jewelry? What is one of your first memories of falling in love with jewelry?
Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 12.18.22 PMMy grandma grew up in a mafia family and always had the most incredible jewelry from her family. On big occasions or birthdays she would always give the granddaughters a piece and I remember being so jealous and wishing I could have some too! This was probably the first time I really got attached to jewelry.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 12.18.44 PMWhat kind of jewelry do you gravitate toward personally?
Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 12.18.22 PMI tend to usually pull pieces that are minimalistic and simple. As much as I love jewelry I don’t like to add anything unless it’s really going to add to the look. I don’t believe in having it just to have it.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 12.18.44 PMWho are your favorite jewelry designers?
Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 12.18.22 PMI love RENVI, the designer uses architecture as a big influence and her stuff is super easy to combine and layer. I also love Monique Péan for her special statement pieces-these are the kind of pieces that I feel like people can’t help but want to talk about and know more about.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 12.18.44 PMHave you always been a fan of estate jewelry? Any specific era you love most?
Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 12.18.22 PMI love retro pieces, as I am a big gold fan. I know that it can differ with my minimalist tendencies, but I usually find myself being drawn to these when there are a bunch of options in front of me.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 12.18.44 PMWhat is one of your favorite jewelry moments you’ve had with a client’s look recently?
Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 12.18.22 PMZoe Levin wore these beautiful CHANEL fine jewelry earrings, we mixed pairs so one side was a pearl stud that climbed up into a diamond leaf. The other ear had this gorgeous drop earring with multiple pearls. I loved this look so much because it was so classic upon first look yet the jewelry really helped keep it super contemporary.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 12.18.44 PMHave you ever styled a look around an amazing piece of jewelry or does it always start with the dress?
Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 12.18.22 PMRecently there was this RENVI chain bracelet that had diamonds throughout the links and I was obsessed with the idea of a choker version. Morgan the creator of RENVI converted it into the choker for me and I began pulling based on this idea. It ended up being the perfect necklace for this pink satin Miu Miu dress Rowan wore to the Glamour Magazine Woman of The Year event.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 12.18.44 PMAs some of your clients are younger and fresh on the fashion scene, how do you make sure their jewelry isn’t too much and formal yet age appropriate?
Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 12.18.22 PMI love using pieces that are designed with some sort of quirky or youthful motif. Things like stars, hearts or even those fun Alison Lou emojii pieces all add a little something without being too much. Rowan wore these gorgeous diamond star earrings by CHANEL for their prefall show in Paris. It was just the right amount of sparkle and the fact that they were stars made it less serious and heavy.
