A Frankfort, Germany-based retailer and manufacturer, Friedrich was founded in 1947 by Karl Friedrich in the prominent retail district of the city. An internationally recognized brand, the company is presently owned by gemologist Marc D. Stabernack, who brings his skills and talent to the jewelry workshop, where haute joaillerie is produced, using eye-catching and noteworthy stones and elegant, classic designs. The company has won the prestigious Diamonds International Award three times and has also garnered prizes within Germany, notably the Golden Shell and the Golden Loupe Awards. The workshop-boutique notes on its website that when a legendary Hollywood celebrity was queried as to what she liked about Germany, her retort was, “Jewels from Friedrich.” The company is also proud of the fact that its bijoux were owned by residents of Britain’s royal family as evidenced by a letter of appreciation penned by the then private secretary of Clarence House. Friedrich’s rich pedigree was chronicled in the volume Das Schöne bleibt (Beauty Lingers), commemorating the salon’s 40th anniversary.
