Barry Kieselstein-Cord is a New York jewelry designer known since the 1970s for his contemporary creations that take inspiration from nature with animal motifs such as horses, alligators and dogs, as well as the art and architecture of civilizations past. Kieselstein-Cord has been quoted as saying he does not create jewelry, but rather aims to create pieces that transcend coexisting trends as well as their decorative function; he seeks to create works of art, sculpture for the body. In addition to jewelry, his line includes handbags and belts with his signature animals and other design motifs.
